Emerging Technology in Science and IT

What is Emerging Technology?

Emerging Technology is a term generally used to describe a new technology, but it may also refer to the continuing development of an existing technology. In a world driven by digital situations, new technologies continue to influence the way we live, work, and interact. They increase productivity, make the services more accessible, and make our lives easier overall.

Types of Emerging Technologies :-

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Robotics
  • Augmented reality
  • Automation
  • Biometrics

Artificial Intelligence:-

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science that aims to create an intelligent system. The ability of a machine to think and learn without any explicit programming is known as artificial intelligence. Machines learn with experience and can perform human- like tasks. It is an intelligent entity created by humans. There are several advantages of using AI, one of them being it reduces human error. As a result, they are much more reliable and efficient in the way they work.
Examples :- Speech recognition and machine vision.

Robotics:-

Robotics is a branch of technology that deals
with physical robots. Robotics is a merger of engineering, technology, and computer science. It involves design, construction, operation, and use of robots. The goal of Robotics is to design machines that can help and assist humans.Robotics are an emerging technology that are helping humans in various fields of life. They can help with complicated tasks such as diving deep in the oceans to gather data about oil spills, helping out in disaster struck areas, etc.
Examples:- Articulated robots and robots

Augmented reality:-

Augmented Reality combines the physical world with the virtual world by superimposing computer-generated images or animations into a real-world environment . It is a perfect blend of the digital world and the physical elements to create an artificial environment.
Popular examples of AR apps include AcrossAir, Google Sky Map, Layar, Lookator, SpotCrime, PokemonGo etc.

Automation :-

Automation technology comprises all processes and work equipment that enable plants and systems to run automatically. These include machines, apparatus, equipment and other devices. Human intervention is minimal.Automation includes using various equipment and control systems such as factory processes, machinery, boilers, heat-treating ovens, steering, etc.
Examples of automation range from a household thermostat to a large industrial control system, self-driven vehicles, and warehousing robots.

Biometrics:-

Biometrics can be defined as the most practical means of identifying and authenticating individuals in a reliable and fast way through unique biological characteristics. It is the measurement and statistical analysis of people's unique physical and behavioral characteristics. The technology is mainly used for identification and access control or for identifying individuals who are under surveillance.

Types of Biometrics authentication:-

  • Fingerprint authentication
  • Face authentication
  • Voice authentication

Fingerprint authentication:-

Fingerprint Authentication is the act of verifying an individual's identity based on one or more of their fingerprints. The concept has been leveraged for decades across various efforts including digital identity, criminal justice, financial services, and border protections.

Face authentication:-

Face Authentication is a technology that enables people to access online services, physical settings, and other resources using images of their face. Face authentication, also called face/facial recognition, relies on mobile and other devices' native sensing technology.

Voice authentication:-

Voice verification is a form of biometrics that involves using voice prints and recognition of the user's phone, a combination known as a voice token. It is regarded as a next-generation authentication technology. The more-advanced voice recognition systems record and store combinations of sounds and notes.
